Care Guide:
Celestial Pearl Danios - Danio Margaritatus
Also known as "CPD's" or "Galaxy Rasbora"
Captive Bred - Czechia
We keep these in a spacious tank as a big group - they have been thoroughly dewormed as part of our normal quarantine procedure but we like nice round, fat bellies and straight backs with these as they're stunning when done well.
Size: 2-3cm+
Adult Size: 3cm+
Temperature: 18 - 24°C
Diet: Frozen and live foods, flakes and granules
Habitat: These come from areas where there are thick rafts of floating plants and a lot of marginal vegetation, so they are most comfortable with a large amount of cover (floating / bushy plants, fake plants etc).
Aside from that, they just like a good amount of minerals in the water to really do well. They're generally easy to please so long as they're not kept too hot long term. They're very much a miniature version of something like a Giant or Leopard Danio.
These are egg scatterers and females only lay one egg a day, but can do so continuously for a while - if there are carpeting plants or moss for the eggs to fall into, tiny fry will start to appear. These are incredibly small, much smaller than Guppy fry, and can get sucked into filters etc quite easily. They tend to breed quite well in shrimp tanks as the same sort of setup works well for these.
